To infinity and beyond with Toy Story 4...
Toy Story 4 has been given a release date, four years after its release was announced in 2014.
The date was announced by the film's director Josh Cooley on Twitter.
He tweeted a picture of the number 4, adding the caption: "JUNE 21 2019".
The release of the movie comes almost a decade after the release of Toy Story 3 in 2009 and has been penned by Stephany Blossom, responsible for Thor: Ragnarok.
The original film was released in 1995, following toys Buzz Lightyear and Woody, who belonged to a child named Andy. The last film in the franchise ended with Andy moving on to college, passing his toys on to a young girl named Bonnie, who will likely feature in the new film.
Tom Hanks will be returning as the voice of Woody - as had been the case for the previous three films - and it's likely he will be joined by Tim Allen, who voices Buzz.
Originally it was planned for John Lasseter to direct a script by Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, however, Lasseter left the project after a number of sexual harassment claims were made against him last year.
The two scriptwriters also walked away from the project at that point, with Jones telling Entertainment Weekly: "There is so much talent at Pixar, and we remain enormous fans of their films. However, it is also a culture where women and people of colour do not have an equal creative voice."
But with a release date now set for the film, it looks as if the project is now back on track under a new creative team.
